Bay leaf plant + sweet potato = ___?___
Did you know you can use live bay leaf plants for pickling your organic vegetables? I never thought of using live sweet bay leaves until this year. So I bought a small bay leaf plant from Hirt’s Gardens and planted with a Japanese sweet potato that was sprouting.
I used fresh bay leaves in the lacto mixed veggie pickle recipe…very tasty!
Note: If you are immunocompromised, refrigerate your lacto-fermented vegetables or pickles right away; do not leave them on the counter at room temperature to ferment. Follow your healthcare team’s instructions regarding food safety!
