The tomatoes are looking gorgeous in the garden, and can’t wait to eat them. First, I want to show you one tomato seed. This one tomato seed is less than 1/8 inch (0.125″), grows to over 7 feet tall and produces lots and lots of fruit-vegetables…this so amazing. Considered a superfood, tomatoes contain plenty of vitamin C and other antioxidants.
Take a look at the slideshow below to see how the tomatoes are ripening.
Sun gold cherry tomato: growing well over 7 feet, and has an abundance of fruit…perfect for many dishes and eating right off the vine.
Roma: haven’t harvested yet…waiting for a bunch to ripen to make fresh pasta sauce.
Cherokee purple, heirloom: has rose/purple skin with green shoulders and taste delicious. Love the interesting shapes of heirloom tomatoes…crinkly, perfectly shaped (not misshapen) with plenty of character and taste.
What to do with tomatoes?
For starters, make the balela salad…it is awesome!
