lantana + red potato

A few useful facts about lantanas:

–using lantana near your outdoor seating areas repels mosquitos naturally and organically. Plus, it’s beautiful. I planted a red skin potato with the lantana to have some vines and to make it prettier.

–can be grown as an annual or perennial, depending on your hardiness zone.

–the height ranges from 6 inches to 8 feet, so notice how high your plant will be when you buy it. Mine is in a pot and grows to 5 feet…good to provide privacy from neighbors.

–comes in beautiful colors of orange, pink, purple, red, white and yellow.

–are deer resistant, drought tolerant (you do need to water them on occasion!), and attracts butterflies, birds, and pollinators.

  1. Beautiful! I’m a huge fan of Lantana! Once, I saw one well over my head! It was really cool. I didn’t know that they repelled mosquitoes… good to know!

    • This one grows to 5 feet, so I’m really looking forward to that! Other plants that repel mosquitos are citronella geranium, lemongrass and herbs such as basil, peppermint, sage, lavender. Also oil of lemon eucalyptus (OLE) is listed on the CDC website as repelling mosquitos…it’s made of natural plant oil and deet free! Thank you for commenting…I love them.
